State governor's office

With a 2026 administration change on the horizon, this state governor's office needed help driving adoption of accessibility practices, documenting those standards and processes, and ensuring compliance with HB21-1110. I led a team of 4 accessibility and user experience specialists to understand the organization's needs and develop a comprehensive and actionable accessibility playbook.

Highlights

  • Conducted stakeholder interviews, interactive workshops, and thorough review of existing documentation to understand current state, gaps, and opportunities
  • Delivered an Accessibility Playbook containing a one-year roadmap to prepare for the administration shift and a future state operating model including governance strategy, training pans, and channels for monitoring progress
  • Identified specific KPIs measure impact across multiple fronts, including vendor relationships, stakeholder management, and training completion

State treasury department

This state treasury department was starting their accessibility journey from square one. I led a multi-disciplinary team of accessibility analysts, designers, and content strategists that evaluated the current state of accessibility, executed remediation, and developed training and resources to support adoption.

Highlights

  • Conducted a robust accessibility audit of 45 webpages across 5 separate domains, combining automated and manual testing to document over 500 WCAG 2.2 AA issues
  • Prepared a remediation roadmap that prioritized and detailed specific actions to pursue remediation and build accessibility maturity within the organization
  • Conducted tree test and card sort activities to identify an improved IA (information architecture)
  • Implemented IA updates and executed remediation of website content across over 50 website pages
  • Designed new, accessible templates for 5 common document types and produced training and supporting documentation

State department of labor and employment

I have served alongside the Workers' Compensation team in this state as a Digital Accessibility SME for over 2 years, supporting across a wide range of projects.

Highlights

  • Conducted accessibility audits of over 30 website pages and 5 proprietary internal applications, leveraging both automated and manual testing
  • Collaborated directly with developers, content authors, and website vendors to fully remediate all internal applications and address over 75% of documented issues on webpages
  • Delivered over 10 live, interactive training sessions on topics including content accessibility, adaptive CSS typography and layout, complex graphics and media, testing with screen readers, and more
  • Evaluated accessibility conformance of third-party tools and plugins and advised on procurement decisions
  • Provided accessibility QA and remediation support to help ensure successful development and implementation of multiple new platforms, including a new workforce management tool, case management platform, and job search portal
